William C. "Bill" Asuncion, age 68 passed away on July 13, 2017. Bill was born May 4, 1949 in Upland, CA. He moved to Bakersfield with his family as a child and has resided here ever since. He joined the service in 1970 and proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Upon returning to Bakersfield he was employed at Bill Wright Toyota before starting his career at Red Star Industrial Services. He continued his position as a Sales Rep/Driver through company changes and retired two years ago to start a new chapter in his life with wife and best friend Liz. Together they enjoyed taking spontaneous trips and spending time with family.
A few of his favorite things to do were building and riding bikes, fishing, shooting and visits to Old Town San Diego. Bill could be seen most days in his garage working on his projects and hanging out with his pal and dog Gordie. Bill is survived by his wife Elizabeth Asuncion, his daughters Kimmi her husband Rudy Gardea, Rebecca her husband Anthony Esparza, and Stephanie Lopez. His son Leonard Lopez and wife Holly. Eight grandchildren, Kristopher Herrera, Kirsti Gardea, Anthony, Amber and Adam Esparza, Jayden Lopez, Makenzie and Khloe Lopez.
Visitation on Thursday, July 27, 2017 5pm-9pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road. Funeral services will commence Friday July 28th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 1515 Baker St. There will be a visitation at 9 am with Holy Rosary recited at 9:30 am. Mass will follow at 10 am.
