

David S. Arizaga July 17, 1943 - December 4, 2014 was called to rest December 4, 2014 in Barstow. He was born in Silver City, New Mexico on July 17, 1943, and has been a resident of Barstow for 32 years. David was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He loved spending time with and cooking for his family, had a passion for history, and enjoyed researching and discussing his New Mexico roots. He also golfed and enjoyed watching his grandson Nicholas play football. As a young man, he served in Vietnam on the U.S.S. Segundo as a 1st Class Sonar Tech, and also served on the U.S.S. Will Rogers SSB(N)659 with the Blue Crew. His skills as a journeyman electrician always came in handy when family would call for his help. At a very early age, David learned how to play the trombone and was a member of several bands. David is predeceased by his first wife, Hope; father, Salvador; mother, Victoria; and step-mother, Tillie Arizaga; and brother, Bernie Arizaga. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend, David is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; brothers, Gilbert Arizaga and his wife, Maria, Steve Arizaga and his wife, Laura; sisters, Irene Montoya and her husband, Bob, and Nancy Lopez and her husband, Martin; his children, Michelle Reckner and her boyfriend, Joel Ortiz, Dennis Godfrey, Scott Godfrey and his wife, Alisia, David Arizaga and his wife, Erynn, Joseph Arizaga and his wife, Melissa, and Sara Keeton and her husband, David; grandchildren, Larissa Arizaga, Alyssa Arizaga, Eric Reckner and his wife, Ashley, Kaytlynn Aviles, Mackenzie Godfrey and her fiance, Gage Jordan, Elizabeth Reckner and her boyfriend, Joe Blackford, Aaron Reckner and his wife, Meagan, Gabriel Arizaga, Marissa Keeton, Karli Godfrey, Isabella Keeton, Sierra Godfrey, and Nicholas Keeton; great-grandchildren, Michael Reckner, Kendall Reckner, Masen Blackford, and Sophia Reckner.
