Mr. Harold "Sonny" Knoll Jr.

Harold “Sonny” Knoll, age 85, a 43-year resident of Ludlow CA peacefully passed away in Victorville, CA on March 8th, 2022. Since September 2021 he fought and survived Covid-19 twice, but it did take its toll and due to other direct factors he lost ground.

The funeral service will be held at 11:30am on Friday April 8, 2022 at Meads Mortuary, Barstow CA.. Ray Maese of Newberry Springs Church will be officiating. Visitation will NOT be held. Burial will follow the funeral at Daggett Pioneer Cemetery 35981 Route 66. Thereafter, we will convene at Newberry Springs Community Church 32826 Newberry Rd., NBS to reminisce about Sonny and for refreshments. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Meads Mortuary.

Sonny was born in Missouri in November of 1936. He graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in San Diego and continued on to receive an AA degree from San Diego Community College.

Sonny was married to Virginia “Ginny” in September of 1961; and were married for 56 years, until her passing in September of 2017.

In 1961, Sonny and Ginny came to the high desert where he worked on the family cattle/alfalfa ranch in Newberry. He also worked construction on a portion of the then new I-15 freeway build. He worked a number of years at the Yermo Agriculture Inspection Station, before embarking in a family partnership in 1978 of the purchase of the little town of Ludlow, CA., where he loved and lived to the end. Sonny also had a deep profound love for flying and deep-sea fishing.

Sonny is survived by 4 children, 1 sister, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 nieces, and 2 nephews.

Sonny is preceded in death by his wife Ginny, his brother John, and his parents Mayme and Harold Sr..
