Joe was born July 15, 1939 in Tuckerman, Arkansas to Roy and Beatrice Turner. At the age of 19 Joe headed west where he landed in Barstow, California and met and married the love of his life Julia. Joe and Julia were married for 62 years and have 5 children.
Joe was an incredibly hard worker throughout his working career to provide for his family. At age 20, he worked for Santa Fe Railroad and a few years later he worked for Calico Rock Company where he mastered his craft in mining and became a professional blaster. As a blaster this landed him to employment at US Borax as a millwright. While working for US Borax Joe traveled to mines in other countries. His work notably took place for many years in mines out in Death Valley. Joe retired as a millwright supervisor from US Borax in 1996.
I addition, Joe loved his family immensely by being the best Husband, dad, grandpa and always being there for them at the drop of a hat. He loved the outdoors and his favorite pass time was working out in his yard. He had a contagious laugh and smile and was loved by everyone who he crossed paths with. His generosity was as big as his heart and he will be missed by all.
His beautiful life will be cherished by his wife Julia, 5 children Joe Jr. (Jayme), James (Kim), John, Jeff, Jackie (Geno) 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, brothers Roy Dean, George and Tom Turner, sisters Mary Banis, Wanda Terrell and Ailene Stapleton.
Joe is preceded in death by his Parents, sister Martha and grandson John Jr.
