Josephine "Josie" Baca, aged 77, born on October 12, 1947, in Sheridan, Wyoming, was called home by the Lord on July 6, 2025, in Barstow, California. Born to her mother and father, Josie was known for her stubbornness, passion, and the deep love she held for her family, friends, and community.
Josie was raised by her late parents, Aurelio and Mary. She grew up alongside her brothers Sammy, Michael, Gerry, and Danny, all of whom have preceded her in death, including Danny's wife Paula. Josie's spirit of love and family unity is carried on by her surviving family members: her husband of 59 years, Florentino; their two children, Edward, his wife Holly, and Jennifer; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her stepmom Josie, brothers Junior and his wife Margie, Anthony and his wife Joanne, Jessie, and Robert, her sister Susanita, and her sisters-in-law Eloisa and Kim along with countless nieces and nephews.
Josie was a woman of many accomplishments, both professionally and personally. She received a certification in Business Office Technology after having managed Mrs. B's restaurant for more than 15 years. Her professional life was only one facet of her character; she was also an active participant in her community. For many years, she dedicated herself to helping those who were less fortunate. Her love for others was only matched by her love for her family and the fun she had playing Bingo.
Josie's legacy is not only the love she shared with her family but also the difference she made in the community she served. She was a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Barstow, CA, on Friday, July 25th, viewing is at 8:30am.
