

Robert (Bobby) Gallegos was born on April 21st 1958 to Miguel Gallegos and Pola Jaramillo in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was later adopted by his older brother Raymond Gallegos and sister in law Bessie M. Jaramillo at age 9. He graduated from Valley High School in Albuquerque, then joined the Army in May 1976, received his basic training at Fort Sills, Oklahoma, served a tour at the DMZ in Korea and completed his service at Fort Irwin where he was honorably discharged at rank of Sergeant Regular Army in 1983.
Robert is survived by his brother Mike (Kathryn Mascarenas), sisters Adeline (Fernando Avila), Rosie (Steve Salazar), Antoinette and Martha. He also has 14 nieces and nephews. Robert has family from his mother's side residing in Barstow and they will miss him very much.
Robert has remained in Barstow after his discharge and has been employed by various defense contractors at Fort Irwin. Throughout that time, he has made a multitude of friends and has left many fond memories behind. His ashes will be taken to Santa Fe, New Mexico and placed in a columbarium at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
A chapel memorial is planned to be held at Mead Mortuary, 36930 Irwin Rd, Barstow, CA 92311, June 25th at 11AM. A reception is planned afterwards and will be announced at the memorial. Please come to show remembrance of Robert and how he touched the lives of those who loved him and was loved by him.
