Vera-Fay Keller born August 20, 1932 to Owen and Neva (Goodrich) Counsil. Married to Clarence J. Keller (Clancy) in April 1951 in Ontario Oregon. They had four children. In 1962 Clancy and Vera left Oregon headed south, eventually landing in Barstow CA in 1974 to open the new T.G.&Y Store. Vera worked at T.G.&Y, H&E and Desert Dispatch before purchasing The Pet Castle Grooming and Pet Supply on East Main Street. Mom enjoyed many activities, B.P.O.E Emblem Club and Rotary International. Mom was the first Lady to become a Rotarian President, leading the way for other women. After retirement Mom worked hard supporting the Main Street Murals group raising money for supplies and finding volunteers to create the pieces of art enjoyed today by so many. She also was a dress maker, she altered hundreds of wedding gowns for the local brides. Before Clancy's passing she readied him for Christmas each year so he could play Santa for needy children. This is something they did in every community we lived. When she truly retired, her favorite past time was enjoying her lady friends from The Red Hat Society that she and Liz Mauk Chartered. If this wasn't enough, she found time to make waffles in her home for those who were hungry and in need of stiff advice or to hang around for political talk. She was a card carrying member of the Tea Party. She enjoyed a good healthy political discussion. Those who loved her understood her need to talk.
