Wayne Dorsey Gesiriech, age 91, of Barstow, California passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at the age of 91. After several months of declining health, Wayne died peacefully with his beloved wife Suzanne by his side.
Born in Newport, Nebraska on October 16th, 1929, to John and Goldie Gesiriech as the 8th of 12 children, Wayne embraced the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish, and participate in many childhood activities with his brothers and sisters.
After graduating High School in 1948, he worked in Basset before attending Wayne State College in 1950. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951 where Wayne served until 1955 as an Air Police airman station just outside of London, UK.
Upon returning to Nebraska Wayne, now married and with his eldest son, worked in carpentry and enrolled back at Wayne State College where he competed in track, received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Education, grew his family with the addition of two sons, and earned his master’s degree in Education.
From 1959 until his retirement in July of 1990, Wayne dedicated his life to education through teaching, coaching, and being part of multiple school’s administration. After his retirement from education, he pursued his second career in Real Estate by obtaining his Real Estate License in 1988 and then his Broker’s license in 2000. Together with his wife, Suzanne, they owned and operated Property Management and Real Estate Companies for the past 30 years.
Throughout his careers, he could often be heard discussing his favorites topics: growing grapes and fruit trees, Walleye fishing, Nebraska Football, ranching, and education. Wayne always had a story to tell, often-times with a sarcastic twist, but embedded was a lesson you could walk away with.
A memorial service for Wayne will be held Monday, August 2, 2021 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Mead Mortuary, 36930 Irwin Rd, Barstow, California 92311.
