Jack built a life on honest work and steady hands, spending his career as a machinist—someone who could make sense of stubborn metal and, just as often, make people laugh while he was at it. He carried himself with the kind of practical grit that didn’t ask for applause, only results.
For 42 years, Jack shared life and love with his wife, Wandean Snowden Sandefur. Jack is survived by his wife, brother George Sandefur (Charlie Mae), daughter Lori Wallace (Jake), son Keith Sandefur (Becky), stepchildren Louis Harvey and Bonnie Harvey, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all knew they could count on him even when his "help" came with a joke and a raised eyebrow. Jack is predeceased by his parents, brother Lanny Sandefur, and stepson Tim Harvey.
Jack was the director of tech and pit/operations at several short tracks. He was a quiet man, but anyone who stepped into the tech shed knew he meant business. He believed in doing things the right way, keeping racing fair, and earning respect through hard work and integrity. Drivers may have feared tech inspection a little, but they also respected him deeply. Racing wasn't just something he loved, it was who he was. The track, the people, and the racing family meant everything to him. His legacy will live on every time the engines fire and the green flag waves.
He was known to be frugal, but never in the ways that mattered most. Jack took care of his family and made sure they had what they needed in life, proving again and again that love isn’t always loud—sometimes it’s steady, practical, and quietly unwavering.
