A Tribute to a Husband, Father and Grandfather
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Anthony “Don” Donald Debevits, on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the age of 85. Don was a devoted husband, caring father, uncle and grandfather.
Born on July 31, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Anthony and Rosalia Debevits, Don was known for his strong sense of commitment and honesty. These traits shaped his life.
Don honorably served his country in the United States Army, where he displayed bravery, leadership, and an enduring sense of duty. His military service, distinguished by serving in the 101st Airborne, was a source of pride and an example of the selflessness and commitment he carried throughout his life. Following his military service, Don worked in the title insurance industry for forty years.
As a husband, Don shared a life of love and respect with Jackie. Together, they built a life and countless memories.
As a father, Don guided his children with wisdom, love, and encouragement. He taught them the values of honesty, integrity and hard work, and was a source of endless support. He loved his grandchildren tirelessly and deeply. He celebrated every achievement.
Don had a passion for woodworking, which he pursued with enthusiasm. His ability to create beautiful furniture was admired by family members, friends, and colleagues.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 46 years, Jackie; his children, John Debevits, Jennifer Burmeister, and Kristin Debevits; son-in-law, Kurt Burmeister; his two grandchildren, Jack Burmeister and Henrik Burmeister; and nieces, Jaime O’Connor and Michelle Succow. He leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, and a spirit that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will also be deeply missed by his lifelong friends.
Internment will be Riverside National Cemetery with military honors. Don’s request was that no services be held.
Though words cannot truly capture the depth of our sorrow, we take solace in knowing that his memory is etched in our hearts, and his love provided a bond that death cannot break.
Rest peacefully, Don. You will always be loved, missed, and remembered.
