

Ben passed away January 28, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease and its complications. His loving wife Shirley and daughter Judy were by his side. Ben was born December 16, 1932 in Derry, Pennsylvania the son of the late Joseph and Julia (Dellavechio) Dorazio. He was a graduate of Derry Borough High School where he excelled in both football and basketball. Upon graduation, he joined the Navy and served from 1952-1956 as a Radioman on the U.S.S. Half Beak Submarine during the Korean War. Following his service, he attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He was employed by Latrobe Steel Company for 34 years retiring in 1994.
He is survived by his wife Shirley of nearly 54 years, daughter Judy and son-in-law John Janusek and his precious grandchildren, Ashley, Ben and Carly. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Curnow of Blairsville, PA, sister and brother-in –law Mary Ann and Vincent Rizzo of Greensburg, PA and sister-in-law Eleanor Dorazio of Derry, PA. His brother Joseph Dorazio Jr. and brother-in-law Edwin Curnow preceded him in death.
An avid golfer, he and Shirley enjoyed the golf courses as well as many other amenities offered by Sun Lakes Country Club located in Banning California where they have resided since 2003. He was a wonderful husband, father and “pap pap” who was dearly loved. His quick wit and fun loving spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation from 6:00 to 8:00pm with the Rosary at 7:00 pm will be Sunday, February 10, 2013, at Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Ave. Beaumont, CA. The Funeral Mass will be at 9:30am Monday, February 11, 2013 at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, 1234 Palm Ave, Beaumont, CA. Burial will take place with military honors at Riverside National Cemetery, staging area #1 at 2:00pm.
