Bruce Tierney slipped away comfortably the morning of January 24, 2013, in Kaiser/Fontana Hospital. Cancer quickly took his life. Bruce and his wife, Marcy moved to California in 1998 from Olathe, Kansas to be closer to their daughters and enjoy the sunny southern California climate.
It gives us pleasure that Bruce enjoyed his recent retirement years with his wife, golfing and hitting not one, but two holes in one, his weekly motorcycle rides with his close friends and the occasional trip to play the slots.
Moving to Sun Lakes Country Club in 2006, brought much joy to Bruce. Making a core group of friends provided him with a sense of community, laughter and support. Bruce enjoyed reading, home improvement projects, NASCAR, college and pro football (always cheering for his alma mater, Kansas State University).
All of our family gatherings from when Bruce and Marcy first met to our days in the hospital would erupt with laughter and were filled with joy. As most people know, Bruce was a man of few words, but he certainly knew how to make the most of those words. Nothing pleased him more than picking on Marcy and making everyone laugh.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Marcy; daughters and son-in-law, Gail and Tim Davis and Melissa Orr; his grandsons, Cameron and Dyton Orr; his siblings from Kansas, Judie Waller and Tim Tierney and from Missouri, Carol and Gary Conkling; his nieces and nephews, Gary Conkling, Jr, Tellen Oots, Chad Conkling, Ted Conkling, Ron Waller and Grace Ann Tierney; his great nieces and nephews, Kaytlin Conkling, Kelena and Bryson Oots, Blake and Tierani Conkling and his many friends in Sun Lakes. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Grace Tierney and his brother, Gerald Tierney.
