Donald Gene Hovis, age 71, of Hemet, California, passed away on January 7, 2011. He was born August 17, 1939, in Fredericktown, Missouri. After his eighteenth birthday, Don started the first half of his career as a tool and die machinist for the General Motors Corporation. He then finished the second half and retired as a Research Mechanic for the Aerospace Company TRW. In his retirement, Don enjoyed opening day trout fishing in the Sierra Mountains and traveling with his R.V. Club and friends in Hemet, California. Don is survived by his son Jeff and wife Jeannie; his daughter Janet and husband Craig Cooper; grandchildren Katherine, Jeremy, Charles, Kristin, Lauren, Austin, Brooklynne and Brandon; brother Jerry and wife Wendy; niece Rhonda and nephews Rob and Russell. Memorial services were Monday, January 17, 2011, at 10:00 AM, at Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Avenue, Beaumont, California. Don was killed by a drunk driver and the family asks "If You Drink, Please Don't Drive". Arrangements were entrusted to Weaver Mortuary, Beaumont, CA.
