In loving memory of Doris Lajuana Cullors-Causey, known affectionately as Juana, who graced our lives with her presence on June 5, 1955, in Banning, California. She was the cherished firstborn of Emmett and Minnie Cullors and led her eight siblings with grace and strength, shining as a guiding light in their lives.
Doris's early education was rooted in the Banning Unified School District, where she not only excelled academically but also left her mark as a spirited softball player and a graceful majorette in the marching band. Her dedication led her to graduate a year early from high school, after which she pursued higher education at San Jacinto Community College. There, Doris honed her skills in business and shorthand writing, setting the stage for a successful career as a legal secretary.
In 1974, Doris united in marriage with George Brent Sr., and together they welcomed their first son, George Valentino Brent Jr. The young family ventured to Alaska, where Doris contributed her talents to the Alaskan pipeline project for three years. Upon returning to California, they were blessed with a second son, Anthony Donnell Brent. Doris's adventurous spirit and dedication to her family led them into homes in Pasadena, Redlands, Moreno Valley, and Oceanside, California. It was in these homes that Doris' talent for interior design truly began to flourish, showcasing her skill with each new residence they acquired. In Oceanside, she dedicated six years to serving at Camp Pendleton, where she managed travel assignments for soldiers. Later, she remarried, tying the knot with Frank Causey. However, the marriage was short-lived, and they amicably went their separate ways.
Doris's journey took her to new horizons in Atlanta, Georgia, where she played a vital role in airport operations before returning to California, where she dedicated herself to caring for children in Beaumont. Along the way, she touched countless lives with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith
Above all, Doris was a beacon of love and generosity. A devoted Christian mother, a doting grandmother, and the best big sister one could ever wish for, she touched the lives of many with her kindness, hospitality, and unwavering faith. Doris's punctuality, selflessness, exceptional decor and cooking skills and her wholehearted dedication to her family underscored a life well lived. Her legacy of love, resilience, and benevolence will forever be cherished and remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her.
Doris is predeceased by her parents Emmett and Minnie Cullors, granddaughter Tyjuana Brent, Sister Betty Cullors, niece Toshebia Wilson and nephew Tre'Jean Cullors. Doris memory will forever be remembered and honored with love.
Doris departed from this life surrounded by love, leaving behind a void that can never be filled. However, her spirit, teachings, and the memories forged together will continue to inspire and guide us forever.
Doris leaves behind an enduring legacy and cherished memories to her sons, George and Anthony Brent; grandchildren, Shonesty, Mister, Iyana, Jordan, Makayla, Heaven, Michael, Matthew, and Jaylen Brent. As well as great grandchildren Josiah and Ella Brent. Her life's journey and stories will continue to be told through her sisters, Melba Keys, Mattie and William Wheaton, Bonita & Joe Williams, Michelle & Emil Kincey, and Tatiana Cullors; brothers, Edward and Shirley Cullors, and Marvin and Elenor Cullors; along with two uncles, Larry and Glenn; and two aunts, Aunty Eva and Elmira. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also mourn her passing, each touched in their own unique way by her kindness and spirit.
As we bid farewell to Doris, we take solace in the knowledge that her spirit will live on in the lives she touched and the memories we shared. Though she may be physically gone, her love and teachings will continue to inspire and guide us for generations to come.
