

Jesse Ray Orr, a 22 year resident of Sun Lakes Country Club in Banning, passed away peacefully on February 1st 2017 after a short battle with cancer. He was 89. Ray was born in Huntington Park, CA on May 11th 1928, the son of Jesse Theron Orr and Mary Rebekah Parker. Ray, along with his older brother Omar, spent their teenage summers at the Parker’s ranch near Miles City Montana, where they helped their uncles drive horses and cattle to market. These adventures fostered Ray’s lifelong love of horse and cowboy stories. Ray later served in the Navy near the end of WWII. On October 13th, 1951 Ray married Ada Marguerite Horrocks also of Huntington Park. Together they raised two sons, Mike and Jim, at their home of 45 years in Lakewood CA. Ray’s career spanned 35 years as an inspector for the California Inspection Rating Bureau. He always had stories tell of those he met and the things he saw as visited many of the businesses and manufacturers of Southern California. It has often been said of Ray that he faced each day with a purposeful carefulness and that he never met a stranger.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Omar and daughter-in-law Bridget Orr
Ray is survived by his wife Marguerite, son Mike of Redlands, son Jim and daughter-in-law Lori of Dallas. Along with five grandchildren, Rebecca of Redlands, Joshua & Jacob of Kentucky, Katelyn and Jeremy of Dallas.
