JoAnn Garland

Margaret "JoAnn" Garland was born July 12, 1934 in Garden Grove, Iowa to Ted and Jennie Francisco. JoAnn was the 5th of 6 children. she and her siblings, Howard, Jack, Della, Phyllis and Connie, grew up in Oskaloosa, Iowa, where she graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1952.

JoAnn moved to Banning, California in 1966 where she met her husband of 41 years and the love of her life, Bob Garland. JoAnn and Bob were married on July 20, 1973. Between the two of them, they raised 7 children: Chriss Allen of Ottumwa, Iowa, Anne Baughman, Mike Sutherland (Trina) of Vista, California, Mark Sutherland of Beaumont, California, Cindy Adell (Tim) of Grand Terrace, California, Dale Garland (Susan) of Hemet, California and Kim Paden of San Diego, California. JoAnn is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Among other jobs, JoAnn worked as a book-keeper for The Banning-Beaumont Record Gazette from 1969 to 1979 and for The Beaumont Laundry from 1979 to 1994, when she retired.

JoAnn is described as a caring woman full of grace and kindness. She liked to play bridge, read, sew, travel, eat out and sing. In the 1960's and 70's Joann sang in an area performance group called The Pass Chorale and she also sang in the choir at Fellowship in the Pass Church where she was a member for 35 years. JoAnn was gifted in hospitality. She and her husband Bob would often provide a safe shelter for young people in need and everybody was welcome in their home.

JoAnn went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 7, 2015. she was preceded in death by her brothers Howard and Jack and her daughter Anne.

Funeral service Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at 11:30 am at Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Avenue, Beaumont, California. Graveside service will follow at 2:15pm at Riverside National Cemetery, staging area #2, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, California.

JoAnn was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Arrangements were entrusted to Weaver Mortuary, Beaumont, California.
