John was known as Curly growing up in banning. Were he became a brick tender, with his dad Joe Rios Sr. Curly learned to play the guitar and became a member of the band Bronze Image with his best friend Benji Fontez. Curly Enjoyed taking long walks, listening to oldies, and Jazz music, watching movies, playing his guitar.
In 1989, Curly moved to Madras Oregon and worked with our brother Robert, until Robert’s passing in December 2018. Curly retired and stayed in Oregon until he came back to California in February 2024.
Curly is survived by his sister’s Cecilia Rios, Isabel Rios, Genevieve Herring, Rita Delgado (Jaime Delgado). His brother’s Ralph Rios, Gilbert Rios, Godson Ben Fontez Jr., and Numerous nieces and nephews.
Curly was preceded in death by his parents Joe & Mary Rios, his brother’s Robert Rios, Joe Rios Jr, and his sister Magdalene Sanchez; his niece Felicia McCafferty, his niece Theresa Sanchez, and his great niece Evangelina Ysiano.
Curly will be fondly remembered by all his family and friends.
A rosary with reception to follow for Curly will be held Friday, May 17, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Ave, Beaumont, California 92223. Graveside Service will be Friday, May 17th at San Gorgonio Memorial Park in Banning at 10:00AM.
