Johnny Lee Robinson Sr. was a man who found joy in the everyday moments of life and shared that joy freely with everyone around him. He was a familiar and comforting presence in his neighborhood, best known for managing the local laundromat. That wasn't just a job to him, it was a place to connect. You could always find him there, chewing his tobacco, talking with residents as they came and went, laughing, listening, and making people feel seen. He had a way of turning ordinary moments into meaningful ones, just by being himself.
Sweet Daddy Black loved spending time outdoors, especially sitting under the trees at the neighborhood park. Those quiet moments brought him peace, and he appreciated the simplicity of just being present. He carried a positive, loving spirit throughout his life, one that didn't waver. No matter what was going on, he led with kindness, patience and warmth.
Family meant everything to Popps. He deeply loved his children and took so much pride in his grandchildren, whom he absolutely adored. Hid love for them was steady, unconditional, and obvious in the ways he showed up. Above all, Popps cherished his wife, Charlena. Their bond was special, rooted in love, devotion, and companionship, and it was clear to everyone how much she meant to him.
Sweet Daddy Black also loved his routines and comforts. He enjoyed settling in to watch his favorite classic TV shows: Sanford & Son, Matlock, Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, and The Andy Griffith Show. These were moments of comfort and familiarity that brought him happiness. He never passed up a bear claw donut with a cup of coffee, and he truly loved good food, especially carnitas, pigs feet, and his absolute favorite chicharrons. And no matter where he was, he always had a soft spot for his mint candies and hot links.
Johnny Lee Robinson Sr. will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. A man who valued connection, kindness and simple pleasures. His presence left a lasting impression on those who knew him and his love will continue to live on through the family and community he cared for so deeply, with love, may God bless all, Choww.
