Leroy Golden Jr.

Leroy Golden, beloved husband, dad and papa passed away on August 1, 2024. He was born as Francis Leroy Golden, Jr. on October 24, 1936 in Huntington Park, CA to Francis L. Golden, Sr. (Pete) and Mary Golden, and grew up in Los Angeles and Torrance with his parents, his brother Richard, and sister Donna. On July 3, 1956, at the age of 19 he married the love of his life, Nora Cummings, who preceded him in death in 2021. Together they raised their two daughters, Pamela and Jennifer, in the city of Orange, CA. In 1974 they gained a bonus daughter (and family), Mireille, through a student foreign exchange program, with whom they remained close throughout their lives. As empty nesters they moved to Yorba Linda and then to the Sun Lakes Community in Banning. After Nora’s death, Leroy relocated to Los Angeles.

Leroy worked as a marble mason for all of his adult life and was a member of the local and international unions. He was extremely skilled, hard working and accomplished and was well respected in the industry. His motto was family first and his most joyful times were spent with his 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He loved joking and laughing and having a good time. He possessed great knowledge and interest on a broad spectrum of topics from building skyscrapers of granite and laying intricate floors of marble to politics and economics. He and Nora were fortunate to be able to travel extensively, many times with close friends and family and he enjoyed many fond memories of their adventures together. Leroy made a difference to those whose lives he touched. He was unsparing with his help, good nature and thoughtfulness and will be greatly missed.

Leroy is survived by his daughters, sister, brother in-law, sister in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous others who hold in their hearts precious and joyful memories. Interment will take place at Sunnyslope Cemetery, 40 S. Pennsylvania Ave, Beaumont on September 7, 2024 at 11am, to be followed by lunch and a Celebration of Life at Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Ave, Beaumont. Family and friends are invited to attend.
