Maria Anna Awender, age 88, of Cherry Valley died November 10, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Maria was born on December 4, 1934 to Clemens and Maria Lingnau in Germany. She grew up in Germany and in 1960 traveled to California to marry her husband Stefan Awender. They went on to have three children, Stefan, Claudia and Rita. Maria and her husband Stefan lived in Cherry Valley and operated a poultry ranch. After retiring, Maria spent most of her time with her children, grandchildren and great grandson, along with traveling. She was a faithful member of the St. Kateri Catholic Church for 59 years and sang in the church choir. She also was a lifetime member of the United German American Club of Beaumont.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Clemens and Maria Lingnau, and her husband, Stefan Awender. She is survived by her three children, Stefan (Kimberly) Awender, Claudia Garcia, Rita Awender, her six grandchildren Kevin Garcia, Stefanie Garcia, Stefan Awender, Austin (Shay) Awender, Savannah Orton, Gabrielle Orton, Derek Awender and great grandson Noah Garcia.
A visitation for Maria will be held Monday, December 4, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM with a Chapel Service at 12:00 PM, both at Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Ave, Beaumont, California 92223. A graveside service will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1315 Edgar Ave, Beaumont, California 92223.
