Mrs. Marylyn Leon Kehret, who was born on January 26, 1934 in Kansas City, Kansas and raised in Missouri, passed away peacefully of Congestive Heart Failure at her home in Banning, California on February 6, 2018. She was a fighter, a strong, independent woman, and she fought the good fight for as long as God gave her strength. She finally let go and went to join the love of her life, Donald Kehret, who preceded her in death 14 years earlier. She and Don, along with many friends and family, have all been reunited and are now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Marylyn, a Banning resident for over 25 years, was a bank clerk before she started raising her 5 children. Later she was a chef at her own restaurant in Minnesota (The Tip Top Barn). And, before she retired, she worked as an accountant for 2 messenger services including Sierra Messenger Service.
She was a very creative person and enjoyed playing the piano and creating oil paintings when she was younger. She and Don were active members of Beaumont Presbyterian Church and both sang in the choir there. They also participated in community choirs and theatre, both performing major roles in the Sound of Music and Oliver at the local Catholic Church. They both loved to travel taking many cruises and cross country trips to see our countries natural wonders.
Marylyn is survived by her 5 children: Dawn Kathleen, Deborah Lynn, Karen Marie Gilham (Scott), Kevin Keith and Andrew Steven; 5 grandchildren: Jeremiah Donylyn Kehret, Steven Andrew Kehret (Nykole), Malissa Marie Gilham, Ethan Scott Gilham and Morgan Wayne Gilham, one great-grandchild, Victoria Kehret and two more are on the way! Preceding her in death were her parents, Henry Francis George and Agnes Teresa Campbell George, her step mom, Dorla Clevenger George, her husband of nearly 48 years, Donald Fredrick Kehret, her brother Henry Francis George and sister, Virginia Hackett.
Marylyn’s smile was like sunshine and her laugh was contagious. She was much beloved by myriads of family and friends. We will all miss her dearly but we’ll all be together again when we all get to heaven!
A celebration of her life will be held at Beaumont Presbyterian Church on Saturday, March 10 at 11am. The church is at 702 Euclid Ave. Beaumont, CA. In lieu of flowers we know Marylyn would appreciate donations made to Beaumont Presbyterian Church Choir or “Take a Bite out of Lyme – We support Paige” (PayPal: [email protected]) on Facebook (close family friends whose granddaughter is painfully struggling with Lyme’s disease).
