

Colonel Patrick Joseph Kahler USMC retired, age 79, passed away on June 5, 2022. Born in Boise, Idaho on June 13, 1942, son of Evelyn (Kane) and Walter Kahler. He is preceded in death by his sister Margaret Brackebush.
Pat is survived by his wife of 56 years Ginger (Reynolds), his two children Patrick (wife Patricia) and Michael, and his four grandchildren, Mikahela, Aleksandra, Xavier, and Nikolas.
Pat was raised in Mackay Idaho and graduated from Mackay High School. He attended and graduated from the University of Idaho where he was commissioned as a United States Marine Corps officer. On the same day he became engaged and was married in September of 1965. He served three tours in Vietnam where he was awarded both a bronze and silver star for valor. His story can be found in the book Young Blood, A History of the 1st Battalion 27th Marines. After retiring from thirty years in the Marine Corps, Pat worked as the Director of CASA in North Idaho, Coordinator of Student Job Training in Spokane Washington, and as a Substitute teacher in San Bernardino.
Pat and his wife have been residents of Sun Lakes for the last 20 years where he has been in the Marine Corps Club, a District EPAP coordinator, volunteered with Alzheimer’s patients, and helped stock books in the Club Library.
A service will be held at Weaver Mortuary on June 22nd at 10am followed by a Catered Reception at 11am 1177 Beaumont Ave Beaumont CA 92223. The interment with military honors will be held at Riverside National Cemetery at 1:45pm
