

“Rick”
At age 69, Rick passed away Tuesday evening 11-13-12, in Banning, CA. He was born in Los Angeles on 6-16-43 to James and Virginia Reed. Rick graduated from Paramount High School in 1961 and served his country in the US Army as a Military Policeman from 1964 to 1970. He continued his law enforcement career with the Los Angeles Sheriff Department, in 1971 Rick began a 31 year career with the California Highway Patrol, advancing through the ranks and retiring as Captain of the CHP office in Riverside. He was a recognized instructor of management and supervisory courses at the CHP Academy for over 15 years and is a 175th Session graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He was a member of Elks #1740 in Hemet, as well as a member of E Clampus Vitus, Virginia City, Nevada Chapter No. 1864.
After retiring in 2001 he entered the golfing industry as General Manager of Woodhaven Golf Course in Palm Desert. Additionally, he completed the Professional Golfers Career College for Advance Club Fitting and Repair Program. Rick loved working with his hands constructing custom golf clubs.
Rick is the beloved husband of wife Barbara, proud father to Richard, Virginia, Doug, Paul, Colleen and their spouses, loving “Papa” to twelve beautiful grandchildren, and honored Godfather to Steven, Melissa, Jared, Shon, and Vickie. He is also survived by his twin sister Lynne, and siblings Chris, Judy, Lori, Denise, and Keith, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, aunts, and an uncle. Rick has touched the lives of countless others in friendship and mentorship.
Rick enjoyed traveling in their RV, golfing, biking and family BBQ’s. He loved life, good food with great friends and family and will be missed by all those who knew him.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 23 at 10:00am at Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Ave., Beaumont, CA. Rick will have CHP and Military Honors.
