Robert Winton Orton or known to all as “Win” passed away on November 11th, 2023. Veteran’s Day is to honor all those who have served and on this Veterans’ Day a decorated soldier was lost. He was a proud Army Paratrooper who served his country in Vietnam earning a Bronze Star with Valor Award for his heroism in ground combat amongst other respected awards. His biggest accomplishment, however, was the lasting impact he had on his family, especially his grandchildren.
His grandchildren were his pride and joy. While the family enjoyed many decades at the Colorado River, Win left a legacy of teaching not only his daughters and their friends but his grandchildren how to fish, waterski, wakeboard, shoot a gun, and change a tire. He especially enjoyed playing poker and taught them all how to play, never letting them win. He was a devoted husband and dedicated caretaker in their later years to his wife.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary, and many other family members. He was preceded in death by two special granddaughters Amanda Marie and Sarah Paige, and his parents.
He will be missed by all.
Per his wishes, he will be buried with honors at Riverside National Cemetery on March 5, 2024 at 12:00pm
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.weaver-mortuary.com for the Orton family.
