Thomas Norman Torrence

Tom Torrence of Cherry Valley was called home to heaven on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from complications of congestive heart failure. Tom was a generous man beyond words and had a servant’s heart and was able to help so many. He will be truly missed.

Tom was born in New Castle, Indiana, the first child of Cecil and Dorothy Mae Torrence. His family moved to San Bernardino in 1951 when Tom was 15 years old. Tom worked for the Rialto Unified School District for 41 years, a job he loved. He started at the School District in a temporary summer position as a Painter and retired as the Operations Manager.

Tom is survived by his son Jay Torrence (Lisa) of Cincinnati Ohio, daughter in law Lori Torrence of Highland, three stepchildren, Greg Hinshaw (Amy) of Prineville Oregon, Cindy Saks (Jeff) of Highland, and Jeffery Hinshaw of Sisters Oregon. Tom was preceded in death by his wife Julie Torrence, sons Greg Torrence and Bruce Torrence. Tom leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday July 12th at Trinity Church, 1551 Reservoir Road, Redlands, CA 92374.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Tom’s memory to a charity of your choice that assists and/or supports Veterans.
