

William Ray Herring, 82, of Beaumont, California passed away on March 5, 2015. He was born in Holtville, California (the Carrot Capital of the World) on September 15, 1932. Bill, as he was known to friends and family, was a country boy with a big heart. He played football and baseball in high school, played sax in the dance band and was an Eagle Scout.
Bill also served his country in the National Guard. He earned an AA degree in Criminal Justice in 1966 and spent 22 years in law enforcement until his retirement from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department in 1976. In 1978, bored with retirement, Bill started working for Whitewater Rock as a truck driver until he retired for the second time, 24 years later. Bill earned another AA degree in Photography and worked on weekends as the sole photographer for Memory Lane Photography.
Bill is survived by his four children and their spouses: Cindy and John McCormick, Jeff and Tammy Herring, Betsy and Mike Newmeyer and Trisha and Aaron Couch. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and 1 great grandson.
The family invites the community to join them in a celebration of Bill's life. A viewing and visitation will be Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Avenue, Beaumont, California. A memorial service and interment of cremated remains will be Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 10:00am at Trinity Episcopal Church, 419 South 4th Street, Redlands, California.
