

William C. “Kelly” Rightmer, 90, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in Banning, California. He was born April 21, 1924 in Pomona, California to Arthur & Rachel Rightmer. After graduating from high school, Kelly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in November of 1942. During World War II, Kelly participated in action against the enemy in November 1943 on Batio, Tarawa Atoll, Gilbert Island where he would ultimately suffer from bullet wounds and later, in 1944, he would be honorably discharged. Following his military service, Kelly attended the University of La Verne where he played Football and Baseball. For 16 years following college, Kelly was a Sergeant for the Pomona Police Department until his retirement in 1966.
Kelly is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Rightmer, of Cherry Valley; daughters, Casey Crisp of Destin, Florida and Kelly King of San Clemente; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 11:30 am at the Highland Springs Village Club House. A graveside service is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 9:15 am at the Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, Staging Area #2.
