She truly knew no stranger and if you weren’t already acquainted, it wouldn’t be long until you were drawn in conversation and witness to her love of life and people.
Barbara owned and operated her own cosmetology business beginning in 1971 and worked full time through December 2023. Her passion for her work and love for her community were evident in her participation and membership within several local and national organizations. She was a member of Cranberry Community Church. She also spent time being a Cosmetology Examiner to new students and enjoyed working the election polls. Barbara was Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Past President of Beta Sigma Phi, and Past Senior Regent of the Women of the Moose, just to name a few titles that she held within the community. She looked forward to dinner with friends monthly on Tuesdays and getting together for her class reunions. Barbara loved vacations and traveling with her family to FL, NV, SC, and TN. She was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing/watching golf.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Fabian and Bonnie Simmons and her brothers John and Larry.
She is survived by her loved ones including her husband of 58 years, Jesse Cole and her children, Steve Radford (Drema), Larry Radford, Janie Painter, and Marcie Cole. Barbara’s grandchildren, Jamison Radford (Laureen), Cole Hoffman, Bonnie Hoffman, and her great-grandchildren, Mason and Lucas Radford were her world.
Barbara will be greatly missed by all.
A memorial service for Barbara will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Saturday, August 24th, 2024 from 2-4PM.
