Barbara McKinney

Born on July 31, 1940 at Price Hill, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen Cox. She was a proud graduate of Mount Hope High School, Class of 1958. She went on to have five children and to obtain a bachelor's and later, master's degree from The College of West Virginia. Among her greatest achievements were being the mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend she was to many. She put God first in her life through all things and was a shining example to us all. Will will miss her in our lives.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Sharon Bowman and and her brother Jim Cox.

Surviving family members include her children Donna Ebere and husband Fred of NC, Ron Bowman and his wife Voula of WV, Lora Robins and Janet Amick; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, two sisters, Linda Perkins of Florida, and Freda Trail of WV, a sister-in-law Connie Cox of WV and a number of friends whom she considered to be family as well.

Services will be held on Thursday February 20, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may gather with the family from 12:00 pm until the time of the service. Barbara will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Beckley Women's Crisis Center.
