Basil Young Allen, II, a.k.a. “Colgate” (43) entered into rest on June 9, 2022 following about a yearlong illness. On October 5, 1978, he born to parents Basil (Barry) Allen and Terri (Chattin) Allen and raised in the Fairdale/ Glen Daniel area. He attended Liberty High School where he participated in Raiders sports until becoming a graduate of the Class of 1997.
His love and knowledge of fast cars began rather at a young age as he learned from and worked with his dad at Barry Allen Racing Engines. Around age 18, and full of ambition and drive, he began to quickly work his way up the ranks mining coal. An extremely proud experience came to him and his crew in the form of a World Record for Most Coal Yardage in a Single Shift. Fishing, hunting and of course racing are some hobbies that he enjoyed.
That Colgate smile, hilarious sense of humor, ability to tell crazy stories and jokes, and just simply have some empathy for others, is how you light up every room that you enter. A negative mood begins to feel more positive as you are causing people to laugh and smile, and try to make the best of any situation.
Basil was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Richard and Lois (Young) Allen of Union and maternal grandparents, Tom and Nedrea (Hayes) Chattin of Lewisburg.
Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Barry and Terri Allen; daughter and son-in-law, Kayla and Derrick Fortner; daughter, Nevaeh Allen; sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and Chris Ramsey,
nephews and niece, Harley, Colton, Abigail; sister and brother-in-law, Francis and Scott Henderson; nephew, Blake; girlfriend (of six plus years), Christy Wheeler; other extended family, aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates, co-workers, and all of the many others who have been touched by his journey through life.
