

Mr. Bernard Howard Bowyer, 87, entered his heavenly home after a long health battle, on February 13, 2025 surrounded by his loving wife, daughters, sons-in-law (whom he considered sons), and grandchildren.
He was born on June 26, 1937 in Cirtsville, WV to the late John W. Bowyer and the late Jessie Mae Bowyer. He was the only surviving member of his immediate family. He was a man of faith and a member of the the North Beckley Church of Christ where he enjoyed meeting with this church family.
Although from humble beginnings, he was determined to make a good life for his family. An entrepreneur at heart, he had many job titles during his lifetime.
He began his career at 18 in Washington DC and worked at the National Airport where he was severely injured. He later operated Bowyer's Texaco and Service Center, Bowyer's Tire Shop, Cape Air Freight, Hertz Rent-A-Car franchise at the Raleigh County Memorial Airport and later was co-owner of Little Valley RVs.
He instilled strong work ethic in his daughters and gave them unconditional love and support.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He would also make visits to his daughter's places of work to enjoy a cup of coffee and a visit with friends. He knew no strangers and was loved by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his brother John (Herbie) Bowyer, and two sisters Hilda Weeks and Jane Sweeney.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years and his faithful caretaker Mrs. Julia Kay Craddock Bowyer. His three daughters Lesia B. Campbell (Basil) of Grandview, WV, Teresa K. Dolinger (Nathain) of Grandview, WV; and Lori A. Davis (Ernie) of Grandview, WV: Granddaughters Gabrielle A. Shaffer and Megan N. Buckner; grandsons Brenton M. Campbell, Colton H. Davis, and Garrett D. Shaffer. He was so proud of his five great grandsons Maverick Davis, Jaxson and Grayson Blackburn, and Calvin and Carter Buckner. He always joked he was building a baseball team in Grandview. He left behind countless family members and friends as well as his beloved dog, Pepper.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to caretaker Trina Lilly, special friend Lanoma Spears, and the angels at Hospice: Jessica, Lisa, Connie, Anita and Mary and to the North Beckley Church of Christ.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday February 25, 2025 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Steve Tanner officiating. Friends may gather with the family from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Southern WV in memory of Mr. Bowyer. Grandsons and sons in law will serve as pallbearers.
