Blake Haven Bane, lovingly known to many as Blakey, BlaBla, or Block K, passed away suddenly on November 10, 2025, at his home in Powhatan, Va, at the young age of 22. Born May 5, 2003, in Beckley, WV, Blake’s life, though brief, was defined by laughter, love, and a rare authenticity that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Blake was the cherished son of Bradley Bane and his wife Stacie Bane, Rebecca Bane and her husband Gregory Williams. He was a devoted brother to Bryan Bane. He was a loving stepbrother to Elizabeth Williams. He was a loyal friend to countless others who became like family. His family and friends will remember him as a radiant spirit, someone who could find joy and humor in every corner of life and share it freely with those around him. Laughter was his love language, and his ability to light up any room was nothing short of remarkable.
After graduating from Independence High School in 2021, Blake moved to Powhatan, VA, to be closer to his mother. He began working in retail before joining Chase HVAC Company, where he teamed up with his best friend, Tyler Cochran. His intelligence, curiosity, and strong work ethic quickly set him apart and he found deep satisfaction in his craft.
In 2023, his talents earned him a position with Automated Logics, where he worked on Computer Chillers for Microsoft. There, he continued to grow professionally and personally, forming lasting bonds with colleagues who admired his skill and lighthearted spirit.
An outdoorsman through and through, Blake felt most at peace surrounded by nature- in blistering cold or sweltering heat. He loved hunting, fishing, and foraging, honoring the land by never letting anything go to waste. Everything he harvested was used, every resource appreciated. Blake had a knack for creating, building, and tinkering -fashioning homemade holders for his bow, hand-built contraptions for his tree stand, and even modifications for his boat. His creativity and innovation were reflections of how he approached life: resourceful, passionate, and full of heart.
Blakes deep love extended to all living creatures, especially his beloved dog, Rocky. His constant companion and “daughter” as he fondly called her, “Dubby”.
Spiritually grounded, Blake found strength and wisdom in his faith. He read the Bible often, wrote his reflections, and filled his journals with gratitude and insight. And among his writing were words that captured his optimistic and generous view of life: to love deeply, be grateful, take care of people, and never let hatred or pettiness take root. He believed joy was sacred and that laughter was the purest form of living.
If Blake could introduce himself one more time,
Hi Everyone, my name is Blake Bane, and I am weird! But I’m up front weird so it works out. Otherwise, I was born & raised in West by God Virginia, therefore, I feel like I have no choice but to love being outside. If it has to do with flora, fauna, dogs, dirt bikes or a good laugh I’m all about it! Making people smile and laugh is another thing that brings me great joy, I truly believe the only days that are wasted are the ones you don’t spend laughing. So, to summarize that into something short & sweet, I love living life, not surviving it.
There will be a Celebration of Blake’s life on Monday, November 17th, 2025 at 7PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Lester officiating. The family will receive visitors from 5PM to 7PM that evening.
