

Carl R. Wills, “Bud,” 86 of Shady Spring went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. Born September 11, 1927, he was a son of Lonnie and Grace Lilly Wills. Carl enjoyed gardening, cooking, camping and fishing. Along with his wife he was a foster parent in the emergency care system to 399 children. Carl was a Coast Guard Veteran and a retired coal miner. He was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in White Oak, WV. Carl was married 68 years to Virginia D. Wills. In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by one brother, Gene Wills; sisters, Margaret Huggart and Reva Wills; a daughter, Connie Richmond; a grandson and 3 great-grandchildren Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Virginia Wills of Shady Spring; son, Walter Wills and wife, Beatrice of Cleveland, OH; daughters, Betty Evans and husband Roger of Shady Spring, Linda Deeds of Shady Spring, Wanda Osborne and husband Gary of Shady Spring; Angela Michelle Wills of Shady Spring; sons, Randy Johnson of Shady Spring, Ronnie Johnson and wife, Melissia of Daniels, Rick Johnson and wife, Becky of Dawson; daughters, Virgie Kincaid of Shady Spring, Debbie Ayers of Hilton Head, NC; 22 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren and special friend, Charles Bennett. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Beckley with Pastor Rodney Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Pallbearers will be Walter Wills Jr., Donald Richmond, Jeff Osborne, Dennis Adkins Jr., Adam Wills and Dakota Osborne. Friends may gather with the family Saturday from 1 – 2 PM at the funeral home.
