
Charles "Charlie " Edward Shumaker Sr. passed away Jan 29, 2020, at home after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Lana, children, grandchildren, and brother Gaylord. He was born in Oak Hill, WV on April 28, 1950 to the late Carl and Betty Shumaker.
"Come unto me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest " -Matthew 11:28
He was a member of Gracepointe Fellowship of Harper, WV. His passion in life was helping others. Missionary work took him to the Dominican Republic, Mexico, New Mexico, Costa Rica, Haiti, Israel, Russia and Peru. He also worked with Kairos Prison Ministry in which he would help lost souls find Christ and especially enjoyed ministering to the youth at Gene Spadaro Juvenile Center. Charlie was a great witness for his beloved Savior and touched many lives doing God’s work.
He worked in the appliance repair industry for many years, owning his own business Charlie's Appliance.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 52 years, Lana Shumaker; sons Charlie Jr.(Sherry), Jonathan (Tuesdae); daughters Krista (Bear), Heather (Brian); grandchildren Courtney (Chris), Hunter, Katie (Jason), Cassie, Caleb, C.J., Erina, Jon Mark, Trevor; brothers Jackie (Jeanie), Gaylord (Suzann), Gregg; sister Debbie and special nephew Dustin (Kendall) and family.
A private memorial service will be held by Pastor Carl Sellards and Pastor Brian Ball at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Rosenbaum Family House at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown WV or to Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
