Clara Maxine Brown

Born September 20, 1933 in Bolt, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John “Wirt” Brooks and Zada Lucas Brooks. Clara was a member of New Beginnings Worship Center in Summersville. She worked as a Social Worker. She enjoyed going to church, teaching Sunday school, quilting, reading and had a very active prayer life. Clara also enjoyed being with her family especially her great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Worley Brown; granddaughter, Lea Shawn Sizemore; brothers, Vandall and Morris Brooks; sister, Irene Renault.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Dwight Brown and wife Juanita of Wyoming and Doug Brown and wife Lenora of Midway; daughters, Vicky Brunty and husband Arlie of Oceana, Beverly Tolliver and husband Dwight of Saulsville and Teresa Brown of Summersville; sister, Nancy Brooks Estep of Beckley; grandchildren, Lori Brunty Sizemore and husband Aven, Daniel Brunty, David Tolliver and companion Heather Cook, Michael Tolliver and wife Deanna, Kaleigh Brown and Frankie Brown and wife Marlena; great-grandchildren, Kelsie, Calyn and Paige Sizemore, Coley and Haley Tolliver; a very special friend and caregiver Norma Groves and also her beloved church family.

Friends may gather with the family Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 12-2pm at New Beginnings Worship Center, 307 Broad Street, Summersville.

From 6-9pm, Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.

Funeral service will be held 1pm, Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Rev. Joey Sheppard and Pastor Stacey Dinguss officiating.

Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations of sympathy may be made to Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd W., Charleston, WV 25387.
