

Clinton Roy Thompson, 82, of Sophia, moved to heaven on Sunday, June 8th, 2014. Living in Sophia these past 48 years, he left for his new home on Pentecost Sunday.Born in Mt. Union, PA to the late Arthur Brown Thompson and Mae McCraken Thompson, he was also preceded in death by his sisters in law, Ann Thompson and Zana Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lucretia Gail Caldwell Thompson, and three precious children; Debbie Hutcheson and husband Don of Coweta, Ok, Judy Farley of Crab Orchard, WV and Michael Thompson of Scarbro, WV. His brothers Art Thompson of CO, Eddie and his wife Doris of PA, twin brother Calvin Thompson of PA, and several nieces and nephews also survive him. He was truly a “Pioneer for Christ.” His legacy will be carried on through his children, grandchildren and great grand children; Kari and Travis Cutshaw, Inwood, WV, Jonathan and Melinda Hawley, Dayton, VA, Meagan and Anthony Johnson, Mabscott, WV, Brandon and Melodi Hawley, Mabscott, WV and Jeremy Farley of Beckley, WV. He loved his family and his great grandchildren Eden, Zia and Elias Hawley, Ana, Judah and Joshua “Clinton” Cutshaw, and Matthew, Brandon, Noah and Hayley Johnson. He served in the Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Wisconsin for ship duty. He attended two years of Lee College. He pastored and established several Church of God churches in southern, WV and PA. In addition to the many sermons he preached, his life was also a sermon. He will be remembered for his love for people, his nation and his God. If there was a baby around, the baby was in his arms. If there was a child around, the child was handed a dollar bill. He had the ability to light up a room with a smile, his joyful personality and vibrant sense of humor. Clinton was an advent Penn State fan and loved to plant and show off the flowers in his front yard. Services will be at 2 pm, Friday, June 13, 2014 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Prosperity with his daughter, Rev. Judy Farley officiating. Rev. Ken Clark and several family members will also be taking part in the services. Visitation with the family will be from 11 am until 2 pm. The family requests donations are made to support several of his favorite non-profits, mission efforts and ministries.
