Mr. Danny K Hughes

Danny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother in law, uncle and doggy dad.

He was a graduate from Sophia High School.

Danny attended and was an active member of Sophia Soak Creek Gospel Tabernacle and spent his life fulfilling his passion, working in the coal mines, running a continuous miner in several mines all over southern West Virginia. In keeping with his love for the mines, Danny was a UMWA Member.

Outside of work, Danny enjoyed gardening, and even had a greenhouse, where he sold plants to several businesses and individuals in the Sophia area where many people got to know him. He developed many relationships, simply because of his caring personality, often doing so much for others. In his free time, he would often travel, taking in scenery and enjoying life. Danny had a special relationship with his family, and spend much time facetiming his twin brother, Denny.

Danny was preceded in death by his Father Robert Hughes and mother Helen Wanda (Helmondollar) Hughes; Siblings, Dorothy Hughes, Geneva Tomasko, Nancy Batson, Robert C.Hughes, Richard Hughes and Thomas Hughes.

Survivors include His wife of 50 years Rexanna Hughes; daughter Amy Houck; son Danny Hughes Jr. (Jessica); daughter Amanda Hughes (Gary); grandsons Danny Hughes III, and Joshua Houck; sister Marie Harney husband Robert; brother Robert L. Hughes and wife Deborah of Helen, WV; brother Oscar Hughes and wife Patty of Helen, WV,;sister in law Sumiko Hughes of VA, and twin brother Denny Hughes and wife Helen of Beaver, WV; as well as numerous nephews and nieces that were dearly loved.

Funeral services for Danny will be on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024 at 1PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Cadle and Pastor Jerry Cantley officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior. Danny will be laid to rest following the funeral at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Moon officiating the committal.
