Darrel Wayne Stone

Darrel Wayne Stone, 60, of Shady Spring, WV, formerly of Matheny, WV, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 after fighting a courageous battle with lung cancer. Darrel was born on September 13, 1954 to parents, Allen J. and Geraldine Lambert Stone. He was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine Stone in 2010; two nephews, Jeremy Fain in 1982, and Mark Stone in 1996; one great-nephew, Ayden Cooper in 2015; maternal grandparents, Frank and Sylvia Thompson Lambert; and paternal grandparents, Ulla Stone, and Joe and Annabelle Roman Stone Gill. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shari Goodson Stone of Shady Spring; father, Allen J. Stone and fiancé, Ellen Lambert of Matheny: daughter, Salena Stone of Shady Spring; two sons, James Adam Logsdon and wife, Tara of Summersville, and Brian “BJ” Logsdon of Kopperston, WV; father-in-law, Bill Goodson of Oceana; brother, Allen U. “Peanut” Stone of Beckley; two sisters, Rita “Susie” Blankenship and husband, William of Matheny, and Dorothy Bowyer of Bolt; three nephews, Josh Fain and wife, Brittany of Matheny, James Darrel Blankenship and wife, Sierra of Matheny, and Ray Cooper and wife, Amber of Fairdale; and four grandchildren, Brandon Justice of Bolt, Emily Logsdon of Beckley, Trent Wood of Summersville, and James Adam Logsdon, Jr. of Summersville. Darrel also had a loving, extensive family from the Coal Miners of Southern WV, and also a loving, extensive biker family for several years. He took great, loving pride in his family and his dogs, especially a Papillion he called “Munch”. He had seven dogs and loved them all, and took great pride in his home and land. Darrel did everything he could to help take care of his home and land, even to his very last day. Darrel was making plans for so many projects, and now he is carrying out those projects in his new home. A celebration of Darrel’s life will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 5pm, with his family receiving guests prior to the service from 2pm – 5pm.
