David retired from the USDA Soil Conservation Service after 38 years. He enjoyed the outdoors where he spent time hunting, fishing, and exploring on his side-by-side. He was an avid WVU fan and a proud graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture. David also enjoyed spending time on his farm, and he loved being surrounded by his family and many friends, especially his daughter and granddaughter who were the light of his life.
Those who preceded him in death include his parents and his step-mother Marlene Staats Darnell.
Those who are left to cherish his memory include his daughter Elizabeth Kelley Darnell and her husband Eric Arrington, his granddaughter Nicole Johnson, his step-sisters; Sue Jackson and her husband Mike, and Cheri Bush, his step-brother Jeff Foster and his wife Kristi. He is also remembered by several nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends.
In honor with his wishes, all final arrangements will remain private.
