Denny Ray Jones

Born on June 9th, 1939, in Crab Orchard, WV, to Carl Lee Jones and Sarah “Sadie” Jane Fortner Jones where he lived his entire life. Preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Irene Tincher Jones, and his later companion Betty Dillion, both of whom he was very dedicated to.

The youngest of 11 children, he was further preceded in death by brothers William Jones, Herbert (Dora “Lilly”) Jones, Harold (Wanda) Jones, and Carlos (Nealy) Jones all of the Beckley area and sisters Juanita (Jake) Dixon, Emma Lee Cassity (Eddie) of Crab Orchard, Margaret (Woodrow) Ball of Fairmont, WV, Janice Woodie- Eller (Ernest/Joe) and Glenna Jackson (Lincoln) of Dayton OH.

He is survived by his devoted sister, Evelyn Fulcher, of Brookville, OH, a special life-long friend Janice Knepp, and a host of special nieces and nephews all of whom loved him dearly and were greatly enriched by his presence in their lives.

Denny was a special person. Due to a childhood illness, he lived his entire life with severe hearing loss. He carried that burden at a time when there wasn’t a lot of help or support for those with disabilities. But he had a loving, supportive, and hardworking family that inspired him to rise above those challenges. He taught himself to make a living in construction in his younger life and later was blessed with a long career with the Coca-Cola company from which he retired. He had a strong will to learn anything he wanted and taught himself to build or repair. One of his most treasured self-taught skills was playing the piano, an excellent pianist and brought many hours of enjoyment to his family and friends with the joy and gift of music. Most of all he will be remembered for the fun loving, good humored man he was. Always willing to lend a hand to anyone that needed it.

Denny accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, so for those who knew and loved him, we are now comforted that he is safely in the arms of Jesus. Denny, we will dearly miss you and treasure the wonderful memories we all have.

A graveside service officiated by Pastor Mark Ayers will be held Friday February 27th, 2026, at 1pm at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, WV. Family and Friends are welcome and encouraged to come as we remember Denny.
