

Born August 22, 1936 in Kistler, West Virginia. Earl was a loving husband and father. He was a coal miner for 33 years and retired from Beckley Mining. He owned E&B Builders. They constructed American Standard Homes and remodeled churches. Later, he had Burton Trucking, which hauled coal and rock. He was very active at several churches over the years and was a current member of Dry Creek Freewill Baptist Church. He also served on the Board of the Raleigh County Recreational Authority for a number of years.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Patricia; brothers, Orville Jr, Wetzel, Terry, Eugene, Gary and Ronnie.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara Compton Burton; son, Earl Jr (Diana); daughter, Mary Lafferty (David); grandchildren, Jaimi Bloomfield (Chris), Tera Kagey (Jason), Samantha Burton, Houston and Kandi Lafferty; great-grandchildren, Makaila and Jenson Burton, Makenzi, Jordan and Sydni Kagey; sisters, Ruth Lovejoy, Gail Ellis, Phyllis Beaver and Debbie Ferris; brothers, Michael, Tommy and Billy Burton and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather with the family Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 5-7pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held 1pm, Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Daniel Legg and Pastor Houston Lafferty officiating.
Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
