The youngest of five children, Eric was born to parents Josephine and Morton Givens on August 4, 1946, in Mount Hope, WV. After proudly serving as a Marine in Vietnam he returned to marry the love of his life, Brenda Gaye Pack. Together they built their own house on Maple Fork where they raised their family, rooted in the strong values of hard work and dedication.
As a father and sole provider, Eric became the steadfast pillar around which his family's life revolved. He was a man of strong moral character, loyal to his core, and unwaveringly devoted to his family's well-being. His wife, Brenda Givens, along with their beloved children—Erika, Brian, and Josh were his world. His commitment to them was a testament to his profound family dedication, and his enduring love was the guiding light of their lives.
Preceded in death by his parents, Josephine and Morton Givens, as well as his brothers Eugene and Edward, Eric cherished the bonds with his surviving sister, Emogene Hutman, and brother Earnest. Together, they share a rich tapestry of memories that celebrate their shared journey.
A service to commemorate Eric's life will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Saturday January 11, 2025 at 1:30 pm, where family and friends will gather to pay tribute to a life well lived. In this collective remembrance, we find solace in the stories and memories that paint the picture of Eric's remarkable journey. Friends may gather with the family beginning at 11:30 am at the funeral home.
May Eric’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life lived with honor, love, and unwavering dedication.
A father's love is eternal, unconditional, and irreplaceable, we love you!
