

Frances I. Meredith, 84, of Crab Orchard, West Virginia, passed away on February 26,2026, after a courageous battle with heart disease. Born on May 1, 1941, in Odd, West Virginia, to the late Fred Meredith and Linda Mae Meredith, Frances lived a life full of
warmth, creativity, and an infectious fun-loving spirit that touched everyone who knew her.
Growing up in the hills of West Virginia, Frances developed a deep appreciation for beauty and craftsmanship that would define much of her life. She was, in every sense of the word,a crafter's crafter. Whether she was working with her hands on a new project or sharing her skills with others, Frances poured love and creativity into everything she made.
Among her many passions was a lifetime collection of butterflies, a collection so remarkable that it earned recognition on the Antique Road Show, a moment of pride that her family and friends celebrated right alongside her.
Frances was someone who believed that life was meant to be enjoyed, and she made sure the people around her were having a good time. She loved doing fun things with friends and family, and her laughter and warmth made every gathering a little brighter. She was also deeply devoted to her church, giving generously of her time and energy through the work she performed for her congregation.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Terry L. Smith and Rodney J. Smith; her sisters, Meldia Riddle, Alice Quade, and Jojo Stelmasoski; and her brother, Denver Meredith.
She is survived by her daughter, Deedee Ann Smith; her brother, Freddy Meredith; and her sister, Connie Hollingshead, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
Though Frances carried her faith quietly, her devotion to God and Jesus was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through every season with grace and steady hope. Her family finds
comfort in knowing she is at peace in the loving arms of her Savior
.
A graveside service will be held on April 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Blue Ridge Cemetery, with services in the mausoleum. Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate the beautiful life of a truly remarkable woman.
