

Gladys Gay Childers St. Clair, 95, of Beckley, passed away on June 22, 2016 at her home. She was born November 2, 1920 in Lowe, West Virginia. Gladys was the daughter of the late Bethel and Bessie Childers. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bernard Wayne Childers, who was killed during the invasion of Normandy, Calvin Childers, Charles Bruce Childers and sister, Priscilla Cook.
Gladys is survived by her sons, Cecil Leonard St. Clair and wife Ann Marie of Mataire, LA, Billy St. Clair and wife Diane of Pemberton, WV, David and companion Shirl Koone of Lester, WV, Steven St. Clair of Bridgeport, WV, and Mark St. Clair of Helen; daughter, Sheila Milam of Beckley, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sisters, Billie Ellison, Betty Jo Kilgore and Peggy Dyer, a sister-in-law, Eunice Clark, and brother-in-law, Basil Hall.
Gladys was the Postmaster at Pemberton, WV, before retiring in 1990 after 27 years of service. She was a lifelong WVU basketball fan and enjoyed many sports. Gladys was a lifelong example of what love, hard work and dedication could accomplish, overcoming many odds to raise a family.
Gladys also wanted to make sure to thank Dr. Kelly Pittsenbarger and Dr. Jebran Karam for their many years of care and the way they provided it with such compassion.
Friends may gather with the family Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 1-2pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 2pm.
Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with family to serve as pallbearers.
