

Born on August 4, 1932 in Coal Fork, WV to the late Walter and Nan Atkins. Harvey retired as the Superintendent of Sanitation for the City of Beckley after more than 23 years of dedicated service. He served his country with distinction during the Korean War as a member of the United States Air Force before being honorably discharged in 1954. Harvey was a member of Maple Fork Baptist Church and an avid outdoorsman that loved fishing and gardening.
Preceded in death by his sons, Michael and Stephen Workman; sisters, Marjorie Poland and Barbara Nunley; brother, Donald Atkins; grandsons, Jason and Mark Allison; and great-granddaughter, Miranda Wesilewski. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Susie; his children, Teri Lynn Snell and Dorian, Steve Allison and Janet, Bobby Johnson, Clif Ashley and Denise, Rich Ashley, Mike Green and Kelly; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Please join us in celebrating his life at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. A visitation for his many friends, family and loved ones will be held Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 12:00 pm in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Bowyer officiating. Graveside services with Military Honors will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Honoring him as pallbearers will be his grandsons. The family will welcome friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
