

James Garland “Cotton” Haga, 87 years of age, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley. He was born on February 12, 1930 in Konnarock, VA, son of the late William Roosevelt Haga and the late Mary Ines Walls Haga. “Cotton” worked on the railroad as a brakeman for over 32 years. He was active in AA for 33 years and loved to shoot pool, fish and most of all, loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Garland Haga, Jr.; brothers, William “Bill” Haga and Wayne “Red” Haga; and sisters, Louise McLean, Kay Sanford and Norma Jean Akers. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Viola Perdue Haga of the home; daughter, Tena Rose of Helen, WV; son, Chris Haga and his wife, Terry of Evans, GA; grandchildren, Jessica Lester and her husband, Kenneth, and Jerri Lynn and her fiancé, Mitchell Lilly; great-grandchildren, Levi, Jocelyn and Trevor; brothers, Carl Haga and his wife, Rachel of Corrine, WV and William R. Haga, Jr. and his wife, Maggie of CA; sisters, Evelyn Haga Mills and her husband, Harrison of Zephyrhills, FL and Tina Varejcka of NE; and several nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 p.m., Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Denny Hughes officiating.
