

Born November 29th, 1940, in Tomahawk, KY, she was the daughter of the late Buel Cheek and Jewel Hall. In 1960, she met the love of her life, Nino Veramessa while working at White Castle in Columbus OH.
Janice was the owner of Giuseppe’s Restaurant for 33 years. One of her greatest joys was serving her community in this capacity.
She was a faithful member of her beloved church, Kilsyth Freewill Baptist, where she served in the ladies’ auxiliary and was the president for several years. She also sang in the choir until she was limited by failing health.
Her greatest pleasures were cooking for others, gardening, playing cards with her family, spending time with her family and friends, and reading her bible.
In addition to her parents, Janice is preceded in death by her husband, Nino Veramessa, Sister, Lana Kay Pittman, sister-in-law, Patricia Cheek, brother-in-law Kenneth Butcher, brother-in-law Richard Draudt. Her grandmothers Dolly Turner, and Minta Cheek.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Joey Veramessa (Jodi), Angela Williams, Connie Rieves (Rob), Paula Hager, Grandchildren, Bryan Veramessa (Heather), Emily Lou Veramessa, Andrea Veramessa, Todd Rhoades, Geoffrey Williams, Sarah Williams, Hannah Williams, Jacob Rieves, Katie Rieves (Jake Trout, fiancé) Dannielle Matheny (Jillian), Nino Joshua Matheny, and Brooke Gandee (Sterling), 14 Great Grandchildren, siblings – Irene Butcher, Freida Draudt, Carl Cheek, Rocky Hall (Debbie) and Brenda Mullins (Jerry), and many nieces and nephews that she adored and adored her.
Funeral services for Janice will be on Friday, April 25th, 2025, at 2PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 PM on the same day. Janice will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens following the service.
