

JOHN T. “TOMMY” DIXON John T. “Tommy” Dixon, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, of Coal City, went home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2015. Born November 22, 1926 at Coal City; he was a son of the late William “Bill” Dixon and the late Ruth Warner Dixon. Tommy was a member of the Shady Spring Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he enjoyed both attending and being active, woodworking, and fishing when his health permitted, he loved spending time with his family. Tommy worked hard to support his family as a coal miner and was a member of the UMWA Local 6108; he was a very giving and compassionate man with high moral values; and had the unwavering faith like that of the mustard seed. Tommy lived his life as an example of his faith, touching many lives in a positive way, that will always be remembered and cherished. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ann Dixon; sister, Vivian Redden; and a brother, Gilbert Dixon. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Janice Dixon; his loving children, Sheila Blake and husband, Wayne of MacArthur, Dana Brown and husband, Mike of Sophia, and Kevin T, Dixon and wife, Patty of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Jon Blake and wife, Mande of Coal City, Brandon Blake and wife, Amber of Surveyor, Nicholas Blake and wife, Mariah of Beckley, Andrea Terry and husband, Doug of Whitby, Billy Brown, of Sophia and Hannah Brown of Sophia; great-grandchildren, Cole Blake, Cody Blake, Bailey Blake, Matthew Blake, Makenna Blake, and Caitlin Terry; sister, Margaret Holmes and husband, Robert of Coal City; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Services to celebrate the life of John T. “Tommy” Dixon will be held 2:00PM Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Pastor Benny Harper officiating. Following the services, Tommy will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Mary Ann at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may gather with the family from 6:00PM until 9:00PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
