Loretta "Mary" Marie Lawson

Loretta ‘Mary’ Lawson of Maple Meadow WV went home to be with the Lord early Friday morning April 18th 2025 at Bowers Hospice House with her family by her side. Mary spent her life singing and rejoicing for the Lord, and now eternally she will in heaven.

Mary was a member of Hotchkiss Missionary Baptist Church with her family for 56 years where she was a member of the Gospel Echos with her husband, daughter, and friends.

She leaves behind a legacy. Generations of love that’s been passed down through demonstration of an amazing love and devotion.

She loved going to the beach, bowling, watching the game show network, gardening, and most of all spending time with family.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Letha Sizemore. Her daughter Donna Asbury, and brother Bill Sizemore.

Those left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of almost 67 years Bobby Lee ‘Big Deal’ Lawson. Her sister Kay Dunn and brother Calvin, her son Daniel Lawson and wife Tamaria Lawson. Grandchildren Adam Asbury, Erica Stover and her husband Anthony Stover, and 9 great- grandchildren and 1 great- great-grandchild, and a host of church family, friends, and extended family. This truly is a big deal.

Services to Celebrate the Life of Loretta “Mary” Lawson will be held 1:00PM Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Pastor Johnny Jones officiating. Following the services, Mary will be laid to rest at Slab Fork Community Cemetery. Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.

Friends may gather with the family from 12:00PM until time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
