

M. Louise Barber, 87, of Beckley, ended her Earthly journey on Sunday, July 9, 2023. She was born December 31, 1935 in Maynor, WV; she was a daughter of the late George Windell Hoskins and the late Eva Stover Hoskins.
Louise was an avid gardener, both flowers and vegetables, reading good books, she fell in love with embroidering, completing 67 sets of pillow cases and giving them all as gifts, plus more to family. Family gatherings and cookouts were very special to her. For she lived and loved her simple life.
She attended Cirtsville Grade School, Beckley Jr. High and Woodrow Wilson High School. She worked for the Charles House until it was sold and then Best Western until retirement. She was a member of the Maynor Freewill Baptist Church. She loved her church and her church family.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, George Wendell Hoskins and Eva Stover Hoskins; her husband, Frank Barber; a son, George Barber; sisters, Patricia Hoskins, Janice Nicely, G. Jeanne Zyto and her husband, Greg; brother, Harold Gene Hoskins; nephews, David Nicely and wife, Naomi Nicely.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving brothers, Grady Hoskins and wife, Peggy of Beckley, Howard Hoskins and wife, Patricia of Beckley, and Harry Hoskins and wife Nancy Pat of Beckley; nieces, Donna Nicely Grainger of South Carolina, Angela Hilton and husband, Chad of Beckley, Rebecca Beadle and husband, Bert of New York, and Lisa Strickland of South Carolina; nephews, Terry Hoskins and wife, Amy of Beckley; Kevin Hoskins of South Carolina, and Stephen Smith of Beckley; daughter-in-law, Paula Carrol of Beckley; two grandsons, Scott Barber of Beckley and Daniel Carrol of Beckley; a host of “great” nieces and nephews; and friends.
Services to celebrate the life of M. Louise Barber will be held 2:00PM Monday, July 17, 2023 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Dr. James Boyd of Memorial Baptist Church, Beckley officiating and Pastor Jim Bowyer of Maple Fork Baptist Church officiating. Songs will be sung by Karen James Buckland, whom Louise loved to hear. Following the services, Louise will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Terry Hoskins, Chad Hilton, Butch Keaton, Rodney Berry and Bill Davis will be serving as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family from 12:00 PM until time of the service at 2 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
